INEQUALITY....the hoax

No issue in the last 20 years has created more divisiveness, than Inequality. The idea that humans are NOT all equal in our income, careers, lifestyle and social interaction has consumed the progressive left. Bernie is an ardent outspoken critic of Inequality, specifically in wages. Even last evening, the Emmy winners were criticized because they were all white. The implication being, that others were not being treated fairly or equal. But reality tells us, we are NOT all the same and hence we are not all equal.

Some of us are taller. Others are faster or stronger. Many are far smarter and some are far more lazy. Humans simply are NOT all Equal. Accept this as a fact.

Our Egalitarian society doesn't really guarantee equality. We are told we have "equal opportunity". What we make of this opportunity is really up to us. We are created equal, but what happens next is largely our own responsibility.

Income Inequality is really a comparison between to completely different jobs. Bernie likes to compare the CEO salary to the base line worker at McDonalds or Amazon. His point is they are paid differently. And, they should be. They have different jobs, with different responsibilities and different requirements. In both cases they are paid what "other people think their work is worth." Nobody pays themselves. We all are paid based on supply and demand. The requirements for a CEO position are much different in terms of education, experience and "executive presence" than they are for a line worker. Very few people are qualified to become CEO. Millions can be hired today for baseline work.

In general if you want to earn more money, change jobs. Or, improve your skills, your experience and your appearance. The demand for high school graduates with no skills and sloppy appearance is really low.

Inequality in other areas, beyond income, may be real. Certainly, humans have preferences for those things that are familiar. People or situations with which we are unfamiliar tend to make us hesitant, uncomfortable, and indecisive. It is possible that a person would support equality and prefer not to live next door to or hire, or work with, a specific type of person due to lack of familiarity.
