LIBERALS....what we learned from the reformers We have heard it all for over 100 years. Not a day goes by that I don’t read some silly nonsense on the internet regarding America. Much of it is complaining about how America doesn’t do enough, or more, to care for people. Robert Reich and Bernie Sanders are the leading complainers. They tell us; “three Billionaires have more wealth than the other 99% of Americans.” Or that; “inequality is growing in the richest country in the world.” Let’s think this through. First it is important to agree…they are correct. Second, so what? America was founded and built on one central idea:  New Wealth . The middle class had become wealthy in Europe, but they were not Royalty and likely never would become Royalty. These entrepreneurs and business owners had grown tired of sharing the wealth with the Nobility. They wanted a place that they could own and create new wealth beyond the reach of European Monarchs. They established Trading Comp...

STREAMING.....the next big thing It all began for me in about 1983. Our block on Russell, St Louis, was wired for Cable and we got HBO . It was like a vision of the future. Movies on the TV without commercials. We loved it. Over time we added other "Cable Stations" and became full time Cable only users in the 90s. We had everything possible on Cable. Then we began to lose interest. There were over 200 channels and "nothing good to watch." So, we rented new movies before they came to cable. This began the Blockbuster Era. I remember waiting for DVDs to be returned so we could rent the latest video. But that too faded over time and by 2000 we hardly watched TV at all. The news was always worth watching but 95% of other programing was boring. Then around 2008 we began to stream NetFlix . It was much better with more to watch and better programing. This led to Amazon Prime and then Apple TV . For a short while we had Disney Plus but it just was not that interesting....

TORN AMERICA Everything I ever read about America while growing up was optimistic. We were the best. The strongest, richest country on earth. We crossed the ocean to get here and "tamed a wild continent." We built cities where nothing had existed. Laid the rails and paved the roads. We saved Europe twice in one century. We mass produced cars, TVs, refrigerators. We invented air conditioning, the telephone, the iPhone and the modern electric car. We went to the moon. We could do it all and did. Now I keep hearing we need to expect less. The defeatist, weak kneed ideas of the surrender monkeys has gone mainstream. Growing up we called them "cowards" or communist. My Dad was a First Sargent, so he was plain spoken. Today, they are everywhere in government. On Facebook. At school board meetings. Their basic message is the future is doomed. They say we are running out of water, electricity, money and opportunity. The End is near. It is all baloney. We have faced bigger...
